Privacy policy

Last updated 22 October 2026

In one line: Lekha collects nothing, and because the app has no internet permission, it cannot send your documents anywhere.

Your documents never leave your phone

Lekha does all of its work on your device. We do not run servers that receive your files, and the app is built without internet access — Android will show that it does not request the Internet permission.

What we collect

Nothing. No account, no analytics, no advertising ID, no crash reports sent by the app.

Problem reports

Lekha keeps a small log of recent app errors on your phone (what failed and where — never file names or contents). It is only sent if you choose Settings → Report a problem, which opens your own email app so you can read the report before sending it.

Invoices

Your business details, customers, items and invoices are saved only on your phone. Lekha never uploads them. The PDFs go to your Files like everything else you make.

History

Lekha keeps a list of what you made (file name, tool, size and time) so you can reopen or share it quickly. It stays on your phone and you can clear it any time in Settings → History.

Where your files are stored

  • Documents are stored in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read.
  • If Auto-save is on, a copy of each finished document is also saved to the folder you chose (for example Documents/Lekha). Those copies stay on your phone even if you uninstall Lekha.

Backups

Lekha opts out of Google Drive backup. When you move to a new phone with Android's phone-to-phone transfer, your library can move with you. You can also create a password-protected backup file and keep it wherever you like.

Folders and files from other apps

  • PDF reader folders — when you add a folder, Android gives Lekha permission to read that folder only. Lekha lists and opens the PDFs in it and never changes or deletes them. Remove the folder in Lekha, or revoke access in Android settings, at any time.
  • Open with / Share to Lekha — files another app sends to Lekha are copied into Lekha's private storage so they can be opened, and those copies are deleted the next time the app starts unless you save them.

Text recognition

Reading text from images (and making PDFs searchable) uses Google's ML Kit models bundled inside the app. Recognition runs on your phone; because Lekha has no internet access, nothing is sent to Google or anyone else.

Permissions

  • Camera — only to scan documents.
  • Biometrics — only if you turn on App lock.

Photos and files are opened with Android's system pickers, so Lekha only ever sees the items you choose.

If you uninstall

Android deletes the app's private storage. Keep Auto-save on, or make a backup file, so you don't lose documents.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date, and in the app.
